I've put it on hold for the next few days. I've got a PHP project I've almost finished, and that needs to be done ASAP. I wish I could just instantly put everything I wanted in the guide in the guide :). I'll try to keep you guys updated.

Couldn't get it to work...

Here is what i've done:
I use the divx sample from:
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distri ... e-DivX.avi

Then followed the guide from http://www.pocketmatrix.com/guides/dvd2divx/#converting

At first i was using divx 4.12 but since i got it from nimo, i was getting the header error. So i got divx 5.03 and set it up with VD fresh on my laptop.

From VD 1.4.9, i selected:

Audio >> full processing

Audio >> conversion >> 44100mhz >> 16bit >> high quality

Audio >> compression >> MPG layer3 >> 32kbts mono >> 22050mhz >> 4kbts

From Video:
Since the file is 640x352, i selected video >> filter >> resize >> 320x176 (16x11=376) >> bicubic

Video >> compression >> divx 5.03 >> configure >>
No profile enabled >> encoding bitrate 200 fps >> original 2 pass first pass
The quick config reads:
-b21 200 -psy 1 -key 300 -log "c:\divx.log" -p -b -sc 50 -pq 5 -profile 0

Then Video >> frame rate >> process every other frame (divide by 2)

Then run first pass, save as 1.avi, then run second pass and save it as 11.avi
Result:
The file plays on my desktop but not properly on my ppc (e740) (lot of artifact, some frames OK but most are not, audio is working though)

Another really anoying thing is that when i transfer the file from my laptop to my 1gb microdrive, 9 out of 10 my ppc doesn't sees it. I have to play from the microdrive while it's still connected to my laptop then my ppc can see it.

Can anyone help in pinpointing what i'm doing wrong?
I've tried many different combination with divx 5.3 profile but in vain.
thanks for your time.

"I'd been hoping to get the guide done a few months ago, but I've been really busy lately with final exams. It doesn't look like I'll be able to complete it until late June or early July."

That's been my reply to email requests for the guide.

Since it's been delayed so much, I'll go ahead and add Smartphone settings too :)
