Wifi.....How does it work!?

Oh moosey, it's because D-Link came out with the 22mbps 802.11b speed BEFORE 802.11g was even announced, so being able to have a faster WAN with the same coverage (a is faster but has a smaller coverage area) was more than a good enough reason to release the product.

I'm aware of the time frame. And it's WLAN, not WAN. WAN is a wide area network, such as ... The Internet.

routers say "WAN" because WAN is the cable or DSL modem that it connects to. They name that port WAN, the port to the internet which is a WAN. That's why you plug the modem, which connects to the internet, into the WAN plug.

I didn't contradict myself, either. I said I don't understand why they would want to stick with 802.11b (because Zinger said D-Link was making 54Mbps B routers) when G is available now.
