Okay. I can now say with absolute conviction that Chriva404 is lying. I've spoken with both a Compaq engineer and Mack Baggette from Times2Tech.com, and they both say it is
impossible to install 3ns memory into an Ipaq. Even if it were possible to obtain memory that is physically compatible with the Ipaq's architecture, it would still require a rewrite of the bios to change the memory controller settings.
And, with regards to the heatsink, they have both determined that it is non-effective. Firstly, when a program fails to run at 236mhz, there are issues other than the cpu overheating, which stop the program from running. Therefore, even if he were to install a water-cooling system (don't tell me, it's coming next week?

), programs that didn't work previously at 236mhz would still fail to work. Secondly, fins are almost essential to the efficiency of the heatsink, but even if the heat were dispersed away from the cpu, without vents cut into the case of the Ipaq, where would the heat go? Therefore the efficiency of such a heatsink, even if it were installed, would be minimal.
I've always assumed that Chriva404's "upgrade" was fake, but was surprised at all the lengths gone to in an attempt to validate it. However, if he stills wishes to try and prove the success of his upgrade, i would be willing to undertake the 'mini-benchmark' type test, as mentioned in my previous post. My offer of $100 still stands. Hell, i'll even double it!
BTW I've always found it amusing that someone who didn't know a thing about overclocking (or PPCs in general, judging by posts in other threads), suddenly became an expert in the field overnight, and also began issuing advice based on the very documents that i pointed out to him. For even mentioning them in the first place... I have no-one to blame but myself...
