hi,

i just got my new iPAQ 5450 and my 3d application ran only at around 50% of my 3970's speed. so i did some benchmarks with VOBenchmark.
wlan, bluetooth, ect. were turned off...
here are the results:
(first value always is 3970, second is 5450)

floating point: 12.66 / 12.62
integer: 26.90 / 26.86
bitblt: 6.78 / 40.05
stretchblit grow: 19.30 / 61.70
stretchblit shrink: 18.80 / 27.90
ellipse: 0.52 / 2.18
rectangle: 3.82 / 8.20
rounded rect: 0.52 / 1.58
gapi max fps: 97.137 / 55.813 !!!
gapi max sprites: 105 / 51 !!!
lines: 6.70 / 83.20
text: 4.90 / 5.10

it seems that although hp increased gdi speed a lot, the gapi speed went down to around 50%.
does somebody know about this or about a work around...?

maybe the new 54xx series wants us to handle gapi differently...?

thanks,
Daniel

The h5455 is a great device but the problem is alot of them are lemons. I had one and was never able to get the wifi to work because of errors. My mom just got one and hers works great no problems even seems much faster then my was. So if you get a good one your going to be very happy but other wize your going to be bring your ppc back to the store.

thanks for your tip.

unfortunately i can't check at the moment if removing that strange program from the startup folder help.
(but i'll do so as soon as i get my iPAQ back)

what i really find strange is that ONLY the gapi performance went down in VOBenchmark. everything else about graphics was a lot faster or at least at roughly the same speed...

i wrote a simple fillrate tester which can be downloaded from . i get around 16 MPixel on my 3970 and 3.15 MPixel on a friend's 5450. i simply use memset() to fill the gapi video memory. maybe the 5450 prefers an other method for video access...
