Use Resco Explorer 2003 (or PocketLAN) to mount your network share as a drive, and then use an MP3 player (like WithMP3, superior sound quality to WMP anyway) which can load files from arbitrary directories.

Or you can pay $70 or $90 and get the ripoff iPlay, and be forced to run a terminal app all day and all night.

is there any way I could use IIS on XP to stream the media like a radiostation?

Well, you can host your MP3 files and let your MP3 player download it while it's playing. I'm pretty sure PocketMVP supports playing from URLs.

Nope, just winamp and the shoutcast server and plugin. www.shoutcast.com should give you all the info you need. There's a shoutcast client for ppc too.
