Dell Axim X5

Dell Axim X5

What are your opinions on the Dell Axim X5 advanced one with the 400 mhz x-scale processor? They're pretty cheap so I was considering buying one. How are they for gaming and also have any of you tried to run a SNES emulator on it, and if so how were the frame rates. Also, do they all still have that problem with the sticking d-pad?

I have the Axim 400 and I love it. I am using the PocketSNES Bleeding edge emulator and while playing FF4 I get 30 fps when walking around and around 7fps when fighting. My D-Pad is fine. I am even able to play PacMan. :D

The Dell Axim is WELL worth the price. It's the most economical device around, and offers the most built in expandability. It's speed is on par with every other device, there are no real flaws to be found, except that some think it's a little large (when it's actually smaller than the iPaq) and some initial buyers had problems with the DPad, but that seems to have been resolved as I haven't heard anything on it recently.

I haven't tried AIM on it, but it will work, if that's what you mean. There's [practicaly speaking] nothing that's incompatible with the Axim.

Not sure what you had in mind, though.

I use AIM on my iPaq. I really wouldn't recommend it. I use AIM on my cellphone more often than I do on my PocketPC.
