For those who are interested, why not have a go at testing the adventure game engine I have been working on! It is designed for the stylus, and features a couple of preliminary screens for the I have in mind.

I am calling for anyone who wants to assist in the artwork for this game. I have much more information on the story/plan if you contact me (trevize79@hotmail.com).

Install instructions:
1) Download the zip file ().

2) Unzip and place the firmament folder in your My Documents folder. The data folder should remain inside the firmament folder.

Image

Play instructions:
1) Run firmament.exe.

2) Turn your PocketPC clockwise 90-degrees so that the directional button(s) are under your left hand, and the stylus in your right.

3) There are 4 MODES.

Pressing left changes to EXAMINE mode. Tapping on an object in this mode causes Gary to examine or look at it.

Pressing right changes to USE mode. Tapping on an object in this mode causes Gary to try and use it.

Pressing up will bring up the SETTINGS menu from which you may quit.

Pressing down changes to SEARCH mode. Tapping on the screen in this mode will create "ripples", which highlight usable objects in the room.

Notes:
1) The music included here is not my own composition, and will not be included in the final product.

2) This was tested on a Toshiba e740 (PPC2002). I'd be interested if you can't get it working, but you may have to wait until its finished before the necessary changes are made.

Thanks guys - hope you like it!

Nathan

Conan: The data folder is inside the firmament folder, which is in the zip. You shouldn't need to move anything.

Hmm,

Looks like I'm going to have to put in some logging so I can see where things are going wrong.

The program uses both the GAPI dll and the MSXML dll, so I assume it needs PPC2002, but beyond that there could be any number of problems. The low-level library used is EasyCE (the same one Brendan used for Countersheep).

Try freeing up a large amount of program memory (like 15 MB or so) and see it that helps.

Anyone else had any luck?

Thanks,

Nathan
