Actually, I just calculated. If you had 256-bit mem running at 28 GHz, you'd have 450gb/s bandwidth.

Geez... you say it as if a FPU could do miracles!

It can't! And no matter how powerfull that FPU could be, it would never be as fast and effective as a dedicated 2d/3d chip.

That's why no ppc is faster than E740 at video decoding.



btw, AGP 3.0 also known as AGP 8x has a bandwidth of 2.1Gb/s, a little bit inferior to those 450Gb/s..

If you were talking about the bandwith between the graphics card and its ram, then the card with highest bandwidth is the Radeon 9800 Pro, wich has about 21Gb/s.
