April 30, 2003 - Omnytex Technologies, in conjunction with Crackhead Creations, is proud to announce the availability of Invasion: Trivia!

Trivia, with a very sick twist... Earth is threatened by two wise-cracking aliens and you are chosen to defend your world in a contest of knowledge!

Invasion: Trivia takes the trivia game genre to a whole other place, a place filled with dark, quirky humor and the antics of Krelmac & Gentoo.

Invasion: Trivia sports:

* Colorful hand-drawn cartoon-style graphics.
* Cut scenes galore! Enjoy (if you can) the wise-ass remarks of your antagonists... Thrill to the destruction of eight different famous cities around the world (you sicko!)... 25 different cut scenes await you! Watch the world buy it if you do badly, get back-handed compliments from the 'boys' if you do good.
* Whimsical sound effects throughout to delight your auditory senses.
* Six characters to choose from to represent you during the game.
* 1,000 challenging trivia questions built-in.
* The ability to load and create your own question packs to share with your friends, or a bunch of strangers, we don't care.
* Ten different fonts to choose from. Don't like the computerized look? Go with old english, or bold, or just a plain-old boring serif.
* High scores recorded for each difficulty level. Speaking of which...
* Three different difficulty levels to play to really challenge you.
* Four Zumbugwas to use. That probably needs some explaining... A Zumbugwa on the Ramalan home planet is a small creature that somehow always manages to live through anything. Drop an anvil on it, it somehow manages to survive. Put it in a sealed box and set the box on fire, the Zumbugwa will paradoxically be there, alive and well, after the fire goes out. Pure, inexplicable luck, but it works for the Zumbugwas! Zumbugwas help you answer those especially difficult questions. Probably. Maybe.

If you don't, you just might find that the planet you call home isn't there in a few days!

There are no functional differences, just some very minor internal changes, not enough to require additional testing (...he said as the trouble tickets started to poor in!)

Most notably, I removed the memory check at the start, since it turns out it was checking the wrong thing anyway (I was checking for free program memory, when in fact what matters is total free memory, which I wasn't even able to find a way to determine).

Don't worry, you beta testers will be getting your copy tonight, I just couldn't get to it last night with all the release work going on.

You might want to save your screenshots as optimized 8 bit or 16 bit GIF files, instead of JPEG. I have noticed that JPEGs look alot crappier than GIF images. Instead of all that blurring in the images, they will be crisp and clear.

Use this little application for image conversion and manipulation. It's free and it is really handy.

I'd say PNG is the best for screenshots.

I know your right about the screenshots... the only problem I think is that you can't get the same file size with GIF as with JPG, and I was concerned with having all the screenshots on one page, I didn't want the load time to be excessive. Maybe I'll give them a once-over later tonight and see though, if we're only talking 10k or so in the end, your right, it will look a lot better.

me too,

I think the screenshots quality on that page really need to be changed. I gives the impression that the game has low graphic quality. It really turns people off.

I would say putting 2 pictures in frontpage and then make another pages for the rest. (if not tumb nails)

I don't know. I like to see a few at a time but good eye candy rather than having a lot of them with bad .jpg artifacts.
