large file transfer problem with active sync

I can't transfer a file larger than 12-15 mg using active sync. I tried irdash but it won't work with windows 98 (at least I can't make it work) Any ideas?

If you're transfering to a CF card, try getting a CF->USB adaptor, they work great and are really fast. Other than that I have no idea. It could be cutting you off because it's too large for the device. You need atleast 5 MBs free at all times for CE to divide between Program and Storage. So that could be a problem if you're trying to send a file to your device, not an expansion card.

Thanks for the replies. I'm transfering to a 128 mg CF card and storage isn't a problem. I can select multiple files of 12-15 mg. and copy them and no problem but if I select 1 large (over 12-15 mg) file it starts and gets about halfway and then says unable to convert and shut down my connection with active sync. I have to take my Jornada 548 out of the cradle and put it back to sync again. I've tried this with many different files. It's really pissing me off. I guess I'll buy a reader.

Oour pleasure Brax... I've heard of others with your problem, I don't think they ever resolved it. Sorry we couldn't fix it though.

I had your same problem too. I finally gave up and bought a reader. Trust me, the reader is soooooo much better. Transferring files takes seconds.

I'm not a fan of ActivStink either, but I've moved files as large as 200 megs without a hitch before. It took hella long, but it worked.

I'm using a USB connection, prolly a reason why it's working.
I've moved large files through the USB cradle and it does take forever. Even for a measily 16 megs.

Yeah I also transfer 280MB files over ActiveSync. I dont know if you guys get this, but when the file is transfering it shows you the little blue notches to you know how far it is.. well when I transfer it gets to about 5 notches and restarts, it does this again and again until its all done transfering.

Um, why don't you guys get an ethernet card if you are transferring files that large? I bought one for $39 at Comp-OOSA. Granted it's only 10Mbits/sec but it's hella faster than the cradle.

I think I am going to get one of those. They do seem quite nifty.

It's like hitching a ride with Moose on a bicycle, or 999 in his Corrado... hmmm decisions, decisions.
