I'm currently working on the PocketMatrix Skin V2. It will support the new skinion options and I gave the whole skin some fine tuning. Some of you might not see a difference, but it looks more tidy and stuff. Decide for yourself:
Image
I've also been doing some stuff on a Star Trek Tricorder (as I'm a big fan). I'm still looking for someone who could code it. Will be a freebie, of course...
Image

I liked the Tricoder, especially if you add a "trekcionary". Please tell us when it's ready.

Shape, what do you need for code?

I am looking for a PPC app to write in my free time...HAHAHAHAH...like I have free time...

No, seriously, if you have an idea what you want it to do, let me know, I would be interested in writing some code for ya.

Thanks, RICoder!
It started as a simple Tricorder, but I think I'd like it to be a complete Interface and stuff, with text editor, an option to draw, a launcher and maybe something like Dashboard built in. Perhaps even one or two small games :)
I thought about making it free, of course. Would be really great if you helped me with it!
Thanks,
Shape

Shape,
I have some code I wrote for a Diving app that has a text editor in it. I also have some generic code for a Windows Explorer. So, for at least that much I can get started quickly.
Hmmph. Thinking...

We could go ahead and make it component based. I.e. installing plug-ins to it. This way it could 'build' the main screen based on what it has installed, allowing one to switch to its internal apps. This in addition to launching other apps.

Could you post some graphics for an explorer and text editor, and maybe an 'app selector'?

To be honest, I havent done much graphics yet. I think that one is the only one. As I said, it started as a simple Tricorder that makes beep and shows fancy graphics. I'll do some artwork on it, np.
I kinda like the plugin-idea. Do you use the ?
There should be an option to load it at startup. Do you know BeOS Personal Edition? You just had to put a boot floppy to the drive, restart windows and it was launched instead of Windows. Something like that would be nice, although there's a risk to loose everything on your PPC...
Maybe we'll just put it to the autostart folder.
Would be neat to make it a real OS, well, at least sort of. You know, with all the stuff, like Picture Viewer and Draw / Text Editor. I'm sure I could ask Peter for his viewer's code...!
-Shape

Heh,
I started an app a while ago, when I had my old NEC CE device, I called it Jordi. It was exactly that, a new OS based on LCARS.
BeOS is interesting because I borrowed some concepts from it, i.e. all the apps and their windows were their own objects.
I like the thought of it, perhaps I will start on it now...hehe.

Dude, that code is supper old and for a totally differenct platform. I would have to do a re-write anyway.

as for graphics, I suck, so I'll leave it in your hands...

Better yet, if you wait until this evening, i.e. when I am not at work, I will send you some sketches of concept stuff, like what things would need to do, but not what they need to look like.

Alright. What do you think? Autostart or more like an OS?
It would be nice if other people also gave us ideas on what to implement!

I would say, off the top of my head, that it would be better to start as an app (autostart). I will code it in a way that will make it more portable to the OS style, but lets start small.

Alright. Mind if I make this a little more public so people can throw in ideas?

Nope, want the input...plus it'll give an idea of interest. No point in makin' an app nobody fargin' wants.
