Having had an Axim X5 300MHz for about 10 months, I can assure you that it can do practically anything you'd want it to do.

It plays videos and MP3s great. Games like Snails, Argentum, Gamebox Gems, all run very well on it.

The only thing I haven't seen it do well on is emulation (using programs like Morphgear). But I didn't play around with that much.

If you can get it cheap (less than $150) from eBay, you should be very happy with your purchase.

You'll need to get a CF or SD card that's at least 256MB for decent movies. You can see the "guides" section of this site for details on how to create the videos from your DVDs.

Does the Axim need a card reader or is it integrated into the PDA itself?

What sizes of memory cards do they make and does anyone know a good UK supplier?

Once again, thanks for all your help.

The Axim X5 has integrated SD and CF slots. (The X3 only has integrated SD.) Although you don't need a flash reader, it does make transferring files from your PC to the flash card MUCH faster than downloading everything through the sync cable.

Yep, very helpful.

Few more questions though...

Is there any way to use a PPC as a portable TV?

Does the Axim X5 300mhz have a CF slot?
