I've read small posts regarding this question and have come to the conclusion that there will be an increased battery drain from the Microdrive as there are moving parts inside (i think), but, I don't think it would be a substantial difference to make the device impractical?! I have an A620 also so I'll post my finding when my Microdrive arrives. Until then I'll keep my fingers crossed it'll be acceptable
