Maybe they just haven't started focusing on that demographic. Pocket PC's are lumped together in the PDA category pretty much, and are probably still aimed towards 'business' than 'leisure'. Of course, this is crayzee, since there is a huge potential market there.
But I think that really IS the case.... look at the Asus a716 review (located )... While it's nice and shiny, the button placement ALONE demolishes it's handheld gaming potential.
I think it's really a matter of time. PPC's are just coming into the horizon, and I think we can expect a lot of changes and popularity down the line.
Until then, it's really gonna have to be a matter of clever game design (control wise).

My one gripe with current D-pads: you can inadvertently trigger another direction (in or sideways or vertical). Why can't they make something like the PS2 controller with the Select button in the middle and SEPARATE (see attached photo). This would make it a LOT easier to play games, and do so accurately, if it can be called that.

...not much of a forward thinker, eh?
The same was said of home PC's you know...? And yet, strangely, I have heard tale of people playing these elusive "games" on them. I have even heard hushed whispers of an industry revolving around this very concept!

Yes but this same argument has been going on for years. Nothings gonna change. Besides, you will notice that you don't play Quake 3 with a special gamepad that has been made because of gamers. You play it with the same hardware that was around before games were big...

I for one purchased my PPC primarily for playing games and learning to program (games).
There is a growing market for people to buy games on their PPC's.
There are numerous libraries and support popping up supporting games and game development.
Looking above this very textbox I am typing in yields an advertisement for THREE games listed as "PocketMatrix Featured Downloads" (Non-business related software).
The NGage was developed to let people play games on their CELL PHONES, which to me says apparently market research told them it was a good idea... yet it's such a strange thought a similar market can be found for PPC's as they becomes more integrated in our daily lives, less expensive, and far more capable and interesting...
I could really go on and on... yet you HONESTLY believe that "Nothings gonna change"??
