Gimme sources on that, besides the rabid hardcore user community, that consumers will be turned off by this.

Fact: Most people don't care about upgrades, especially on throwaway devices, as the Dells are pretty much are.

Proof: Windows 98 is still used throughout the world, despite MS' pushing (and forcing sometimes) to ME, 2000, and XP.

Proof: The Toshibas went on to do pretty well with the e750 and e805, despite the huge uproar. There are even some people who signed all those crazy petitions who went out and got an e805 anyway.

That's the PC industry, the PDA/cell phone industry is an entirely different realm. Do you see people upgrading cell phones? No, they just buy a new one when it comes out of style. PDAs are quickly headed towards that direction. (Besides, you said it yourself, they get a *NEW* computer every 6 months, not an upgraded one)

And do you really believe people research that much? I can tell you from countless experiences no they haven't. My 3955 isn't getting an upgrade, and I'm not raising hell over what is a minor upgrade.

If it's so obvious, care to provide some numbers of Toshiba's demise after the crap people raised about the e740?
