Asus WM2003SE updates

PostPosted: Apr 1, 2004 @ 7:45am

I have been talking to Justin at ProPortable, who has been in close contact with Asus regarding updates for some of the Asus units to WM2003SE. The bottom line at the moment right now is that Asus Taiwan is still going back and forth on it.

Right now their decision will be weighed heavily on customer feedback, and because of that I have made this thread for you all to voice your opinion. Asus will be reading this. <!>

This is for ASUS USERS ONLY. Please keep your opinions all on topic and precise. It would also be a good idea to go a bit further than saying "yea I want it" or "I don't really care"

Here is an example of what your post might look like:

I vote a definite yes for the update, especially since the A716 was released so soon to the second edition announcement/release.

Releasing it would also add to the bragging rights for both Asus and its users and about how they care enough to release updates for their customers.

I'm entirely convinced that Asus should release an update for the a620BT. The most notable upgrade will be in landscape ability. Hopefully 2003SE will help the Wi-Fi issues of 2003.

As mentioned in earlier posts, it would be in the best interests of Asus to release such an update for their devices, having recently bought the A716, its just missed the annoucement which seems like they've accidentally shot themselves in the foot, but can be rectified with the update. Also, I would appreciate the benefits of Landscape mode, and also some possible increases in stability and performance from my system.

Thanks,

I would have to agree with the above post in that if Asus does not release WM2003SE to A716 users we would be greatly disappointed having just bought our A716s only to have them go out-of-date quickly after. Landscape mode is definitely very useful to all Asus Pocket PC owners since it provides a whole new resolution to explore and take advantage of with many different applications.

Question: Will this update be in the form of a BIOS update? One thing I think us A620(BT) owners need are the fixes (Which are still not "officially" distributed) for such things as the extremely annoying speaker-popping problem! If the OS update would include this, then I would say that this is a must for all!

Regardless - I think the OS update would be appreciated by all who own the "underdog" of PPC's! :)

According to some sources the OS of the A600 can not be upgraded to Windows Mobile 2003. Please reconsider this, maybe Windows Mobile 2003 SE is less stringent. So please try if the upgrade is possible.

And as you know, besides the new features, the network connection of Windows Mobile 2003 is improved, which is a huge plus for me, because i use my Pocket PC to connect to several networks (home and work).

I am more than willing to pay for this upgrade, thanks! :)
