Posted: May 3, 2004 @ 8:35pmBluetooth uses significantly less power, and has a range of 33 feet under ideal conditions, with a speed of 1.5mbs (I think). 802.11b uses significantly more power, and has a range of 330 feet and a speed of 11mbs. 802.11g is the same as 802.11b, but is 54mbs. 802.11a has a range of 175 feet and a speed of 54mbs, using the same power as 802.11g, because it operates at 5GHz, where Bluetooth and 802.11b and 802.11g operate on the 2.4GHz band (which is very crowded, microwaves and some cordless phones cause massive amounts of interference).
