Nah, scrolling layers mean a lot less than the number of sprites in motion.

There's a newer version of Morphgear available, maybe try that one. Not that it will make a huge difference, but it's worth a shot. :)

Also, don't forget you can toggle autoframeskip, adjust sound quality and so forth. I found I am better off with high quality sound than low, when it comes to emulation speed and so forth.

As well, you can also try the older PocketSNES BE. Many people rave about how MorphGear is much better than it. But to be honest, on my particular PPC, 16-bit high quality audio plays much better in PocketSNES than Morphgear. And Final Fantasy III US plays much better for me in PocketSNES.

It's all debatable but keep your options open anyway. :)

The best speed I've found would either be morphgear or the japanese emu. Overall compatability would be pocketsnes. Personally, sound is choppy on my a620 in both the japanese emu and pocketsnes, so I use morhpgear .

I have tried using PocketSNES BE but the sound is realy bad and I can't get over 30fps with autoframeskip. Sometimes it even goes faster than it should but it stays at 30fps.
I like the japanese the best, I haven't had any sound problems with that and it runs alot faster that Morphgear.

But anyway, my point is shouldn't it run faster than it does on my device? I think I've heard people say that Secret of Mana runs realy good but with morphgear with sound I don't get more than 15fps and using PocketSNES BE I get 20 to 30 fps.

What options do you have selected? And are you overclocking?

I'm not overclocking, I'm running at 400Mhz. You see the framerates I get in some games in my previus posts in this thread. When I use sound I have it on 11Khz and 8Bit. I always use autoframeskip so that it runs at fullspeed even if the framerates are bad. The screen size is set on 100%. I use it in portrait mode.

Have you tried setting the sound quality to maximum? I get better performance with 16-bit sound than 8-bit.

First of all make Frame Skip "3", then uncheck Sync Audio. I have a A620 too and it ran everything perfectly except for Mario Kart SNES of course.

Each release of Morphgear has gotten slower since 2.0.3.7, that release is the fastest Morphgear I've played. 2.1.50 is slower than 2.1.0.0.

SNES9xJ4u is definately the fastest emulator. It can run most (supported) game full speed with sound, it's just that the sound support is clearly out of tune, the configuration is defaulted to Japanese (can be switched in registry), and the UI isn't as good as morphgear. Oh yeah, the frame skipping is a little quirky, no throttling, so you can end up going way too fast.

I never liked PocketSNES BE that much, Morphgear had better frame skipping and sound was better, and since Aaron adopted BE hacks, it was about the same speed and has better support/compatibility.

And everybody has different ideas of "perfect" emulation. I like fs 2 emulating at fullspeed (full speed as in 60/60 on fps counter, not what I feel). FS 3 is too choppy. Sound really depends on the game. I like CT music, but not battle sound effects, etc.

Is your CPU to turbo or automatic with advance performance?

If not, do you think it's an hardware problem?
