New batteries could run on decaying radioactive material. Not sure of the application to commercial handhelds, but it's definitely something to look at.

nice. that could sovle a LOT of issues. Could you imagine an electric car running on these?

"yeah it's about 10 years old so you'll still get a few years out of it before you need to fill it up" :lol:
but thats WAY in the future

Electric cars will never happen unless we develop a viable fuel cell. Even with super-duper batteries, your car is going to grind to a halt on the first cold day you get.
