Linux powered mobile devices - thoughts?

Postby j.edwards » Jun 29, 2005 @ 11:17am

Does anyone have some thoughts on Linux powered mobile devices?

I guess Linux devices will make sense for companies already with those skills. Palm look like jumping on the Linux train, probably to reinvigorate some life. Maybe if they do it won't be as painful to develop apps for Palm and it could help their cause a bit as they have cheaper devices that from reports seem to be more usable for end-user. Althoug, for enterprise mobile apps the device cost is irrelevant though if you can get things built much faster. Any thoughts?

I loved coding for Zaurus - it was frankly more fun than coding for PPC.

I somewhat doubt it will succeed though - sooner or later MS is going to kill everyone in this market.
