sending a message to ppc over wlan

Im looking for a pocketpc application that would enable me to send popup messages from a PC application to a PPC on a wlan.
It would be a local lan with no internet connection.
There is only need for oneway communication from PC to PPC.(like a pager)
Basically im looking for something like netsend.
But since the PPC normally would be in standby mode i think the PPC appliction needs to "wake up" en check for incoming messages regulary?
Any ideas an suggestion is welcome.
