Hey Guys,

Matt will be reviewing this beauty as soon as I can pry my hands off it. The 636 is certainly more of a niche product than anything Asus has done before, but it's wicked because it comes with a means of map storage (256mb SD card included) and the newest version of the best mapping software I've ever used... DestinAtor.....

We're looking at having these ready to go by the begining of December.

Anyway to keep everyone satisfied till Matt can review the unit, here is the dedicated Asus page which was just launched:

I finally got a chance to take a shot of the box and the a636. One thing I wanted to stress was the car kit that I believe is going to come standard with this unit. It includes a car charger, a wicked little dock/charging cradle (that is designed to be used horizontally and a "power" suction cup arm which also has a very nifty ball adjustment at the top. Also, the a636 marks the return of a brushed aluminum face.... very nice.

WTF!? I thought it was going to be around $300. Bummer, no way I'm getting it for my dad now. :(

$300? Heh. Yeah right. Maybe if it didn't have GPS or the GPS software.

$600 seems reasonable considering built-in nav usually costs about $1k-2k from the manufacturer.

I'm looking forward to seeing matt's reactions.

well, if you play your cards rights, it is possible to get an Axim X51v with VGA and GPS for around $400.

Hey, first review of the A636:

Damn...looks hot afterall :D
Aside from the gps features, I note that the benchmarks seems to prove that this device is actually better than the a620! And the buttons layout is perfect for gaming! And great battery life...

MMMmmm...makes me wonder if I should upgrade my A716+CF gps for this one >.<"
