That sure doesn't look like any Windows CE based OS. Is it proprietary, Linux, etc?
The built in keyboard is neat, but is so small it may not provide any better (easier) input than the current varieties of SIPs for Pocket PC.

Dan East

I agree with Dan on everything
It also looks like the screen is an extra 20 or 30 pixels higher than a normal PPC. Any word? That's judging mainly from Space Invaders and Pac-Man pics.

The keyboard on the M1-E1 is slightly bigger than the one on those Cybiko toys kids play with. The OS these 2 PDAs are running is the Japanese version of Linux. Without a doubt, when they appear in Europe they will use an Engrish versoin of it;)

Wow...my 101th post....And the Peasants rejoice...*yay*

Anyhoo...I have seen this as a largely multimedia handheld. The CF and SD slots help to confirm that along with the joypad and high-quality screen.

Uh huh. Not that I don't know, but remind me again what an SD expansion port is ??? ? Oh, and that would be your 101st, not 101th post.

SD is a new form of expansion. Its like a (forgive Me) Springboard slot, adding mainly multimedia capabilities like cameras and stuff

101st....excuse me;)

Just what the world needs, yet another memory card / expansion card format. It's bad enough with CF, Smart Media, and the Sony Memory Stick. Sony especially bugs me. It's so blatantly obvious that their proprietary memory stick is just an attempt at raking in 100% of the profit for Sony peripherals. I guess some Sony engineer slapped them self in the forehead when they realized that using a "stick" shape, instead of a more sensible square-ish shape, almost completely killed any chance of that form factor containing a micro drive. Good one guys, all just to call it a "stick". I won't buy a Sony digital camera because of the proprietary stick crap. With my CF-supporting digital camera I can pop the card straight into my iPaq for previewing / editing on the go. Oh, that's right, I'm supposed to buy a Sony PDA to use with my Sony camera and Sony Memory Stick, while thinking happy Sony thoughts. Listen Sony, remember the Beta-Max thing? Well, you lost. VHS won. Quite trying to dominate every aspect of consumer electronics and play nice.

Oh yeah, we were talking about the Sharp thing. It looks a little on the large size (compared to other PDA's, even with the keyboard thing closed). It looks about the size of a typical HP H/PC Pro device when closed.

Dan East

Actually its only a little bigger than the Jornada 54x series. The keyboard hides away underneath the screen when not in use.

Trust me, it will be a great device;)

I'd have to agree with Dan. The only cool sony product is the Mavica camera that supports mini CDRW discs..... but alas.. it's only 2.1 megapixels i think.. Where's the 3-4megapixel version..? and why do they use stupid jpg.. they should use PNG format... uhg... some people just don't learn...

Note* this is my last post on this forum for 2 weeks.. i said that on friday, but i lied....
