Ha! Well, porting Quake was just as easy, because I also only used a single program. Actually, it was simpler, because I did not need to use a plugin. Now, writing Quake was difficult, because they used an editor to write the C source, and then used a second piece of software to build it! Can you imagine?! And I bet they had to talk into the keyboard, because mice weren't prolific then.
