Whitney type Mod for Casio

Anyone besides me thought about it?

If you don't know what it is, it's basically slimming down the Casio by opening up the case and shaving down some of the insides and then putting the jumble of wires in a slimmer case, like putting the E-125 into a case made for an EM500; or possibly an EM500 put into an ipaq case ;).

I'm going to attempt to do something like this soon, so if anyone else has thought about it, or even tried it, please post.

999, have you tried anything silly like the Whitney Mod yet?

When/if you do this, make it a How-To with lots of pics, then we can host it for everyone else to use.

Jaybot, that could be done...I guess. I would love to slim down my E-115 down a bit. Even if it was to be able to fit in a EM500. Give it a try to tell us what kind of solution you come up with. I still try to look for a color case for my E-115, kind of like the EM500 different colors, but for the E-1XX models.

Image

This is the latest mod I've been messing with. I basically tore apart my Executive Leather Case and used the front cover with the "Compaq" indenture as my "CF Case".

I used kitchen tools and scissors for this mod, and oh yea, Elmer's Glue :)

Last modification: 999 - 06/10/01 at 15:49:03

999, I'll send you my Casio to mod if you send me your iPaq. I'll throw something else in too, but your iPaq is used. (no mention of the condition in which my Casio is in will be uttered).Last modification: Moose Master - 06/10/01 at 18:06:53

Moose:

I'm not sure if my kitchen has all the tools I'd need to do your mod. Besides that, take a look at the opened E series pics on Dale Coffing's site. Casio has slimmed the device down as much as possible. This is evedent with the battery "hump", as it tapers back down to be as slim as possible.

No, I've noticed plenty of ways to slim it down; Dale Coffing, while I like his site, and you know, it was the first real BIG PPC (or PsPC) site around and I've folloiwed it for too long etc etc; he's a little pussy cat and wouldn't try doing anything to his Casio if it wasnt tested by someone else first.

That and he works for MS now. :)
