Has anyone put linux on there ipaq yet? if so how does it run, will x windows run like a scaled down version?

That pocket version of Linux doesn't work like that. It's an extremely stripped version of Linux and I doubt it runs anything well, or fast.

Yes there is a distro of Linux that will run on the Ipaq, its at www.handhelds.org<br><br>The Ipaq happens to be the most widely supported palmtop for putting Linux, I mean even Compaq themselves have decided linux is a good thing on its palmtops, not just the Linux community.

In general, it would be hard to install a 600mb OS on a 32MB PocketPC.<br>And how long was that out?

Ummm, you can install older version's of Linux on 420 meg hd's cause i've done it. It ran fine on a 586-133 with a 420 meg harddrive m need alot of moosy. :/

Have you guys actually gone to Handhelds.org, or have you been asleep??? Look the people there have got Linux working very nicely on there Ipaqs, also they have even been able to get so basic but very cool looking GUIs working on it. Some of the GUIs use the frame buffer directrly so they speed things up, and use less space.
