Which PPC looks best?

Finally, this will be the thread to yell and scream at eachother on what PPC looks better. I'll start off by saying that I think the iPAQ looks really ugly, which is one of the reasons I didn't get one, the curved bottom and central button is weird. The Casio E-125 does looks like a brick, and all the Jordanas are SOOOO ugly! AHH! I have an EM-500, which I think looks the best, it's the most professional looking (I have the navy blue one), whereas others look like Gameboys. LET THE WAR OF THE PPCS BEGIN!

I like the iPaq's look, the @migo which I have, is a bit large but I think it looks awesome. HP's design is not very impressing and it looks to much like a palm. I would hate people to think I own a palm.

Warren, your narrow sense of taste looks like it's bound to land you in an inferior device. Be cautious

I like the new E-750 too. Have you seen Toshiba's PDA yet? Looks real nice, but only 129Mhz? I like the @migo, with the random dots for the speaker, looks neat. Palms are embarrassing. I too hate it when people say "Can I see your Palm Pilot?" Even though I keep telling them it's a Pocket PC. I really like the clear blue Handspring. Oh, and when will Palm realize that there's more colors in the universe than just black? I said that the Jordanas are ugly, that's because the lower half of it is nearly plain with very small buttons. They could easily fit a d-pad there. It seems like the screen should be bigger, but it isn't, it's weird. Oh, have anyone seen that commerical with the speaker guy, and he has a PDA on the stand thing in front of him and the chic is telling him what to say, and she sneezes and he says "Bless you" and feels awkward for a second? Did you realize that that PDA is an upside-down EM-500!! OH!! Take that iPAQers!

The iPaq looks horribly.

The Jornadas need to be less black, but not silver like the 525. They also have too much space below the buttons for nothing. They look OK

The Casio EM-500 looks like a gameboy and I wouldn't be seen with one in public. Including the new E-750.

The Casio E-125 looks like a Power User's device, designed for easy inputting, plus fun on the side.

The @migo has a huge screen, good button layout, and looks conventional like the E-125. I like it the best.

If iPaq fixes it's ugly design and shiny surface by the time they release the 412MHz model then that's what i'm getting. Otherwise I'll just wait a bit until Toshiba comes in.

Correction to the text above:

The E Series looks like Casio's attempt and a 1980's portable TV and game machine hybrid. If Casio made the Gameboy, the E series is what I'd expect their first models to look like before they got streamlined

e-125 does look like an 80's throwback to Portable TVs, I'll admit that. There really isn't a PocketPC design that is asthetically pleasing, if you ask me.

Exactly.

I think I've been spoiled by the engineers at Nintendo and Sega.

Ever since I was a little 999 (333 back then), I've always been enamored with the design on my portable Gameboys and GameGears.

These PDA designers are just shooting in the dark here, I mean the whole way we interface with PDAs is changing faster than they can engineer a package to better follow suit. Standardization is key, and it's unfortunate it only comes by the brand-name. If I want a retroTVGameboy I go casio, if I want startrek props I go compaq, and If I want something that looks like a cheap radio-shack radar detector I go with HP. WTF?

Note to PDA Makers:
Games have always been the benchmark for PCs, and is ultimately what pushes the technology forward. In that same respect, Games have the same affect on PocketPCs. PocketQuake for example is now a benchmarking technique used by Intel. They stated that Quake has been a long time benchmark for their PC processors, so it was only natural that PocketQuake take that role with their portable lineup.

If you want to make a machine worth it's wieght in gold, make it a gaming device first, and a PIM device second. By catering to every facet of what a good game might take advantage of, you've got faster and more resources to work with when you're in PIM mode for example. A good game machine always makes a good work PC.

There are masses of young adults out there who were weened on portable gaming, and have come to a point in their consumer lives where there is a void in that market. I'm willing to bet a large percentage of the PDA owners here bought their devices based off of it's ability to play games. That thirst for portable gaming is still there, only this time we have the money to satisfy our needs. Now where the hell are the devices? I've got money burning my pocket and the only thing I have to look forward to is a 129mhz machine???
