CF jacket trouble

Some of you know that I droped my iPAQ and the touch screen started behaveing funny but so far it worked ok. Yesterday the problem got worse, and I couldn't use the unit at all. That's when I toke the CF jacket off and everything was fine again. If I leave the jacket on but with no CF card, the screen doesn't work either. If I take the jacket off, it works normally.
I don't have anyone around here with a jacket to cross test. Does anybody know what might be going on?

One of the contacts of the jacket could be bent and not making a connection, or grounding itself all together. Perhaps it has something to do with the power plug itself, as the screen should go to full bright when it receives external power. Could be malfunctioning and causing it to go flooky on you. Perhaps one of the contacts is hitting that. But I don't know anything about the iPaq, so ... just some thoughts.

I revised the contacts and didn't see nothing out of order. When I said that the screen was not functioning normally, I meant that the tap with the stylus was erratic.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, once came out a screen saying that I needed to format my CF card.
???

If it was that easy...
I can't afford to manage without my iPAQ for more the some days, and if I sent it back, I would be withou it for at least a month (I'm in Brazil). I'm between a rock and a hard place. Darn.
:(
