Activesync is retarded. I am transferring a 40 mb avi file onto my ipaq with 64 mb of ram. I alotted about 50 mb of ram to storage (which took a while in itself because the retarded "automatic" adjusting bar kept going back into the middle because it is much smarter than me and knows how much i want alotted into storage and programs) I started transferring it, and it would always transfer until it was close to done with about 10 mb left in storage memory and then it would say "Error cannot convert Jackass 1, there is not enough memory on hard drive."

Okay Number 1) Activesync isn't converting anything
and Number 2) There is 10 more friggin megabytes left what the hell is wrong and why wont it PUTE TEH FREAGIN HAx0R 1337 FILEZ IN TEH FRIGGIN PLLAICE PIEHOLE!!!

Activesync sucks also cuz it wants to set up a new connection everytime i plug it in so i just sign on as guest. Activesync also also sucks because sometimes i plug my ipaq in the cradle and it isn't detected which PISSES ME OFF!!

if you have a laptop, go buy one of those CF >> PCMCIA adapters. It turns your CF card into a standard IDE drive on your laptop. Transfer is hella quick, and they are around $10 - $12

If you don't have a laptop, then you can use a USB convertor. Those can be quite a bit more expensive ($25 - $60 I think)

You might as well invest in one of those options if you have large files to transfer. I can't imagine trying to use ActiveStink for that.

Just for the record, activesync works perfectly for the HPC 2000 with all file types.

That cant be true, I have copied much more than 16mb to internal ram.

Yeah, ActiveSync does suck. When I got my iPAQ a few months ago, I still used Windows 95, so it wouldn't let me use the USB cradle, which was the only one I had for my iPAQ. However, my USB CF reader worked great on my computer, so I just used that. It was so much faster. The only things I couldn't do was sync files (i.e. Avantgo, email, etc.) but I didn't care about those things anyways. For installing programs, I just copied over the CAB file after I installed it. Either that, or I would zip it up and then send over the CAB file (this is what I do most often). That was nice because I could then uninstall any program to make space and then reinstall it when I wanted to use it, without having to mess around with ActiveSync.

Last week, my computer got Windows XP, which fully supports USB. I still use the USB CF reader method because I am used to it and it is now easier for me than ActiveSync. The USB CF reader is also at least 4 times faster than USB ActiveSync. I haven't once synced my iPAQ in the like 2 or 3 months that I have had it, and I use it every day (and longer every day than even the most avid Palm fan). I just lately installed ActiveSync on my XP computer because some programs won't install a CAB file without ActiveSync installed.

Yeah, ActiveSync just sucks. I wouldn't miss it, as long as software developers don't use installers, only just a self-extracting EXE or a ZIP file (even better) or even the CAB file itself.

Yup, Pocket PCs themselves can operate just fine without a sync program, whereas Palms rely entirely on them, for without them, they couldn't do anything except the built-in stuff. Well, I guess you could beam stuff from one Palm to another, but that would be dumb.

I call on you to take an ActiveSync fast (as in not using it), or call it a boycott if you want. It will make you smarter, more relaxed, and may even improve your love life.

Robotbeat - did you know that the USB port on your iPaq is actually a serial port that can do communication over USB? Yea, it is. Therefore the max speed you'll get out of a file transfer through ActiveSynch is the max serial speed.

If you want fast file transfers over active synch get yourself a CF NIC or a wireless NIC, you'll notice the speed improvements immediately.
