EMERGENCY EMERGENCY!!!!!

Ok, here's what happened. I was in band class, and my EM-500 turned on in my pocket. As the class ended (it was the last class of the day), I took out my ppc, and saw the usual "hardware stupid demand thing" and turned it off. I was really pissed, but not that much. Now here's the bad part-
When I got home, I went to my room and plugged in my ppc for the battery. I turned it on to see what my homework was (I use Mobile Calendar), and guess what!!!!!! AHH!! It came up with a screen that said "Please tap screen for Pocket PC set up"!!!!! OMG!!!! I almost had a heartattack. Literally. I stood there in shock. I went throught the setup and realized that EVERYTHING on the PPC (except on the MMC card) was GONE!!! EVERYTHING !! Now, before I do ANYTHING, I want to know how to recover all my data with ActiveSync. PLEASE HELP ME!! Will ActiveSync recover all my lost files and data?!?!?! But also, WILL IT RECOVER ALL THE LOST DATA FOR MOBILE CALENDAR!! I have so much stuff in it, and if I lose it all, I AM DEAD!! AHH!!! PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!!!

did you ever back-up your data with activesync?

yeah a backup should work. i think. besides, any files on your ppc will still be in the 'my documents' folder on your desktop wont they?

Ok. I am about to soil my pants, so, please just tell me step by step how I can do this. The last time I synced was on 1/17/02, less than 2 weeks ago. I haven't really put much stuff in it since then, so it should be ok. Yes, ActiveSync updates the syncronization each time, but I'm just very afraid of losing the Mobile Calendar stuff.

Oh, and I would like Matt Keys to tell me, not Paul (no offense or anything, I just want expert advice).

Well, It's gonna want to set up a new partnership. Your mobile calender, etc, will still be in your Outlook... If you're using Outlook. So, pretty much, just do a sync, and it should copy everything from your computer to the pocket pc...

I recommend you backup your outlook.pst file before doing this... just in case activesync decides to delete it during the sync... just do a search on your comp for outlook.pst... it should be a fair size (mine's 70mb) and copy it to another folder... if activesync deletes your outlook stuff than just copy that outlook.pst file back over the old one...

I'm leaving now... So, matt should be able to help you.

anyways, throw it on the the cradle, get activesync going using the same device ID that you used previously. Then go to tools->Backup/restore

It will not work unless you are using the same device ID for your PPC as you did before.

If you cant remember the Device ID from before then I will tell you a work around.

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD!! IT WON'T CONNECT WITH ACTIVESYNC!! It says "Cannot connect with desktop, please make sure no programs are using the port..."!! HELP!! The ppc says it's name is Pocket_PC, but I named it Casio when I got it, so that'll be the name for the backup, unfortunately, I CAN'T EVEN CONNECT WITH THE FUCKING THING!!! AHHHH! Please help, I'm seriously feeling nauseous, and I'm gonna really cry. Why!!! Why of all the times when I'm so busy with other crap!!

Calm down warren, and change your girly avatar. Anyway, go ahead and make a new connection with your device named Pocket_PC. After you have made a new connection as Pocket_PC, go change your device's name back to Casio, and then re-sync. You should be now connected as Casio. Now do a backup in Activesync and you should be set. If all of this does not work, look for a folder name Casio's Documents and manualy put your stuff back on your device.

No no no, you don't understand, IT WON'T CONNECT TO THE COMPUTER AT ALL! I tried everything, it simply says that it cannot connect through the port. I guess it's ok that I lost all my Mobile Calendar stuff, it's not that bad, but I would at least like to be able to sync it to get back my files. But at least I still have PocketWolf and all my music on there. :?

Oh, I'll change my avatar when I have time.
