I personally will wait until there are several different XScale PPCs out with good reviews on them (Gapi tests, Battery life, and so on).

Well, since my iPAQ is BEING SOLD <== Hint, hint, Compaq, maybe you need to work on your customer relations) the moment it gets back from being repaired, I may well consider getting an XScale Device.
Prices are likely to be astronomical to start with, though.

I like my choices, and I'm kind of getting sweet on the NEC PPC2002 device that has just come out so I'd like to see what they come up with. HP and Compaq... I've never liked them. Casio is kind of old hat now, big and bulky. That NEC is nice and small and light weight.

I probably won't buy a first wave X-scale, since I just got an e200 (even though I didn't pay for it). I think that I will wait untill a few 400 mhz ones come out, and then choose from that selection.

When the 600 MHz processor is made available in a quality PocketPC. I think 600MHz is a sufficient speed to run most power hungry apps. I'm not a big gamer but I may dable a bit. Mainly I just want fast efficient speed and the 1GHz boys are not going to be as efficient when running wide open. It's a compromise thing. Besides, it's not like it's going to be my only PC, I'll still use my desktop or laptop for heavy work.

The problem for me is that I only have about $150, so I have to wait.

BTW, there is a 1Ghz WindowsXP tablet PC running a Crusoe (pretty expensive though) if you wanted some ideas.

I'm hoping to get an Xscale ASAP. But my question is will the first wave have ppc02 or wince.net on 'em?

I'll be getting the first one that runs on CE 4.0 (WinCE.Net)

I like my ipaq so ill wait till its shot to get one, or until there are too many cool apps I can no longer run on my ipaq. Although I gotta say that Win XP tablet device is looking mighty nice.
