That was fun. When I put my E200 in it's cradle this morning, I was having trouble getting the backlight to come on, or so I thought. Then I see a warning that due to high current drain from the storage card the system has shut down...something to that effect.

Apparently the CF card zero'd both the main battery AND the backup battery. All the card had on it is the card backup tool and one backup. Maybe it isn't a good idea to leave the card in the computer?

Luckily I've learned to keep backups up to date and I still have my palm pilot. I'm getting less impressed with this thing as time goes on.

Yep. Drained them both. I think I'll get in the habit of taking the cards out for now. Plus I'll add a couple CR2032 batteries to my shopping list.

The devices do turn themselves on at midnight to update the upcoming appointments and so forth. It could have not turned off because the storage card was in and just drained the main battery before morning, then when the main battery was dead the device could NOT have remained on, however your backup battery would have been drained very quickly too, those don't last long.
It's no fault of the PocketPC, and if you set it up right it probably won't happen again. I leave my 1GB MicroDrive in my PocketPC all the time, it's never taken out at any time.

wow that sucks, Ive never had that problem with any card in my iapq.

With my iPAQ, I always left the CF sleave on with a card in it, and it never did that. Are you sure you didn't leave any prog running or the auto shut-off feature disabled?

I'm guessing the backlight turned on when it woke up at midnight... that would explain the quick battery drain.

Well it's hard to say what happened. The thing was pretty well dead. It took a good 3 - 4 hours to charge all the way back up too, just like taking it out of the box.

This is my first PPC and I've had it a week so it was more than likely some bonehead newbie thing I did rather than a hardware problem. I hope so anyway.
