Ok, he had said some wierd things about his DL port, and let me tell you why they are wierd.

The facts.
1. DL, is much more processor hungry than doom was. In fact, on my pc, I get a higher fps with a quake time demo, than I do with the dl time demo. That will not be the case on the ppc, but from test runs on my 720, you have just enough processor power to run the game enjoyably, and not a cycle more.

2. He claims that he has a smoothing algorithm in order to take advantage of extra clocks. (What extra clocks)

3. He claims that with the smoothing algorithm in place, it can run full speed on mips. (That is thereticly impossible, unless he has a lot of time to code really good asm).

4. The Doom Legacy code is very optimized in order for it to play well on lower end pc's. The is some device specific optimizations that can be done, but not enough to give you the amound of clocks you would need for a decient (not even good) smoothing routine.

5. DL will not be able to be enjoyed on a 486, it will be too slow and jerky.

6. He used cheat codes for the game. You don't have a gatling gun in the first level. Cheat codes seem dificult to type for a ppc. And, I don't see the need to type them when taking sample screen shots.

7. There is always that phantom white line on his ppc, in the status bar.

anyone else notice anything wierd?

1,2,3,4: Did he say that it ran full speed on mips? I read that he only has an ipaq and it runs slower with smoothing on.
You might be right about the cheats but does that make it dodgy? But the white lines in the start bar do look funny.
I'm hoping that its real, we need a good port. I cant see why anyone would go to such an effort to fake it, so i'm hoping he delivers. But rob, your the last person who should be hinting that a legacy port is dodgy.

Does anyone have the URL for the site?

But why are the icons in the background different in all of those screenshots? Did he just decide to put the shortcut in Programs one day and then put it back into Programs\Games the next? And those two pics, with the different backs, are of the same level, and have 8 as the last digit of the time. I doubt he quit, changed the location of the shortcut, started Final Legazy [sic] up again, played through the levels just to take another screenshot of the same place. I know that if I'm taking screenshots I take all of them at the same time. And should there be an X button at the bottom right of the screen in the Programs folder anyway?

I'm sure the port is real, just pointing out things like R0B asked.

Yeah, and he created his website with Microsoft Word! It MUST be a fake, no real programmer would dare!~
