More MIPS than you can shake a stick at!

More MIPS than you can shake a stick at!

Postby TechMage » Apr 13, 2002 @ 10:19am

Holy great Jayballs!!! There has been more talk about MIPS in the past few days on PM, than there ever has been! So I wrote a poem about RISC processors. :D

ARM is old,
but so is MIPS.
XSCALE is going to be,
the shit!
SH3 is slow as grass,
SH4 can suck my ass!
But all in all,
whatever you pick.
10 years from now,
the'll all be shit!

What about x86? It's much older than 10 years. And it still has at least like 5 years left to go!
Die, Palm, Die. If that offended you, then get rid of your Palm OS device.

x86 goes way back. As far as I know it is the first real attempt at setting an industry standard with CPUs, and developers rejoiced. Especially after x86 gained massive marketshare with help from Microsoft among other things.

That is where PPCs are now. Maintaining a single instruction set will push the industry forward as Devs, Manufacturers and Buyers have fewer headaches to deal with. That translates to: reduced prices.
