Go to http://www.tweak3d.net
click on LINKS
in the first sections of links there should be a link to a connection speed bandwidth speed test. That is pretty accurate in most cases.

I am guess you are using Voicestream if you are in the states. If you are it is a prettyu consitant speed of 54k unless you are moving then it gets knocked down to about 14.4-9600 depending on your speed (vehicle) walking is not a problem. If you are not in the states sorry I wasted your time. This information was based on me in Downtown Atlanta with a Motorola P280 and a USB data cable connected to my compaq m700 laptop. I also tested in Marietta, Canton, Alpharetta, and Dekalb Georgia. I also tested in the area of Jacksonville Beach Florida.
Note to self: Why don't you ever listen to me?
