I suggest you wait for an XScale PPC to drop below 300$. Wait... wait.. wait...

Any reason NOT to buy a Maestro ?

Postby erth » May 15, 2002 @ 11:30pm

I have an ipaq 3135 that I gave to my wife because of the miniscule RAM and mono screen - I have been looking at the Maestro with hungry eyes - I am a budget shopper. I can't explain to myself why to spend more than 300$ on a pocket PC. I just need to know - am I making the wrong decision in going for this - is there another, better, more value priced PPC that has 2 expansion slots that I should go for? And NO. I won't wait for XScale - I can't spend over 300$ - rememeber?

Come on and help a brutha out, mofos!

You should wait until it is released with an X-Scale and a video card. But not until it drops below $300, that would be a REALLY long time (i.e., a year).

I think the Maestro is the best of the current PocketPCs, although benchmarks won't agree with me. I just feel it's overall quality and construction is the best, most sturdy. For some reason I think that Audiovox is cancelling production of the Maestro, they may be in some financial trouble but this is just my speculation. But I do think that Audiovox may be pulling out of the PocketPC field. I'd take a look at the Toshiba e310 or any of their other PocketPCs. But if I had to buy a PocketPC today I would go with the Maestro as well.

Go with the Audiovox. I bought one for my wife and she loves it. I've played around with it, and I haven't noticed any siginificant differences speedwise between her Audiovox and my Jornada (568).
