I've downloaded the PPC2002 from KaZaA. I 've already had ROM Update Utility from Microsoft, downloaded it few weeks before and made the ROM backup. Then I ran this PPC2002 Update. I skipped the ROM backup point and started to update. After half hour everything was fine :]

I use iPaq 3630.

See there was no problem. Who cares if it breaks the ipaq anyway? I can always send it back to compaq and get it repaired for free coz it's still under warranty. So if it had screwed up my ipaq I would have sent it back which I need to do anyway due to dust behind the screen and the stylus port spring being broken
But I agree for people without the safety net of a warranty it can be a risky procedure.

yes, but a skilled hacker can make it mess up more than just the rom.

How can be a PPC screwed more than ROM? You can't crack a hardware using only software. Even if there is a way to software crack hardware, the warranty [and after-warranty] service covers it :]
