embedded c++ killed my PPC!!!

I was just debugging.. stepping through and then one line I heard the hard drive running... then it tells me embedded c++ has crashed and must restart.. ok no big deal.. I tap my PPC to get the backlight back on.. nothing happens... I do the reset switch on the bottom to clear everything.. it shows the load up screen and hangs.. ARG!!

I bought this from best buy 29 days ago.. I have the PPC, adapter, cover, software..

do I need the box? will there be any problem switching it for a new one?

is there another reset switch I don't know about ( I threw away the manual.. I am always too optimistic it will never break)

It is a toshiba e310

It is strange that it did not stop working when dropping it.. or turning it on... it all started after it crashed in embedded c++

anyone else heard of anything liek this happening?

its been a hour now after turning it on and off over and over I keep hoping maybe if I give it time it will magically repair itself

Have you tried the hardware reset? I think all PPCs have one of those. It basically means switching it off completely so you'll lose all data stored in the internal RAM but it's better than a kick in the teeth.
Look for a concealed switch as on the ipaq at least you have to slide open a section with the stylus in order to access the switch. I'm not too sure where the hardware reset is for the e310 though.

yeah

thats the reset I did.. the one that clears the ram.. and it still doesnt work.

if that does not work I don't know what will

Now I am just worried I will be stuck with a broken PPC

This happend to me (E310).. i ended up taking it back for a new one(9 days old). try holding the power button then hit reset, when you see the screen let go of the power button this is a different kind of hard reset.

I didnt try this before i replaced it so i dont know if it will help. And when mine locked up i couldnt get past the main pocketpc screen and wouldnt let me adjust the input.

If you have to go to the extreme, i would buy a new one, swap back covers and the get your money back ;) but dont say i told you to do it :)

This happened with my E200 when I first got it...you can read about why here at pocketmatrix.

I would DEFINATELY bring it back, and if they won't take it, call Toshiba and have them cross-ship you one. My guess is that this is EXACTLY the same as what happened to me, and if so, it is DEFINATELY their problem, not yours.

..

well i DO have the reciept ! So I assume I do not need to resort to swapping back covers.. well if they don't take it back I will atleast

thats scary that you can kill the PPC just from debugging!
