I was thinking with PPCs and 802.11b and a cafe full of people using them.. it is soon going to be ripe for a game that will make multiplayer on a PPC a blast like DOOM did for the PCs

I envision some sort of game where the PPC searches for a server while most people act as the client and join some sort of lobby and when the room fills whoever is using the PPC as the serve launches..

With the way a PPC is designed I do not think a game like DOOM is the kind of game to do this.. something like a simple 5on5 soccer game with 10 real humans playing at once would seem cool

am I onto something or am I way off?

Now there's a killer app right there, write a library that makes communication between devices a walk in the park (independent of the underlying technology used). You'll be swimming in cash when you have finished that, although you're probably going to die from frustation way before you have anything you can sell.

I thought about adding multiplayer support to Moo Moo Pocket(my newest game in progress), but I would probably opt to use directplay which would take care of some of those networking problems. Thing is, Only 2002 devices and up can use it so for the time being im opting not to. I did leave a space in the menu screen for it though, maybe it will come after the initial release if interest is shown.

directplay

Are upcoming game, The Devious Device, will have support for networking.. but right now we are only looking at 1vs1 gaming.

One of our other games, which i can not talk about yet, will support up to 8 (and speed will not be a problem) and can be played on a PC, PPC, or SmartPhone.
