Hard reboot for system maintenance?

I know a reboot is often good for PC's . . . but with the way the iPaq works, is it sometimes good to hard reboot it to clear up memory leaks or does the soft reset perform the same function?
I'm just worried about it slowing down over time . . .

hmm, I've never reformatted my pc, and I've had it for four years. No wonder it's so slow and screwed up

With partition magic you change the size of partitions without having to format (if there's enough room). But when it crashes... boy are you screwed then :D
I used it to partition my 100gb HD in 2 parts so I could reinstall windows on the first without having to burn a shitload of cd's to backup my data. But after about 3% the progress indicator just stopped, didn't change at all anymore, so I was staring at it for 3 hours pulling out my hairs and going completely nuts, luckily it suddenly finished and everything was ok. *phew* ;)

Yeah, I wanted to move all my movies, MP3s etc. to another partition, format drive C: and re-install XP.
PartitionMagic Error Check: OK
Resizing/Moving: OK
97%... 98%... 99%... "Error: Lost Cluster at XYZ. Will now reboot."
I'm not sure why this $#!%?+ยง tool found the lost cluster AFTER moving the data.

LOL! Sorry for the laughter but that was a classic computer crash. Why couldn't you split the drive into 2 partitions, and then once it works right, copy the files over? That's waht I did, split my current HD into 2 partitions, one full, one blank. Once the partitioning went right, I copied everything over.

I remember when I was envious of my friend getting a brand spanking new 233mhz P1.
Those were the days.

I remember frogger, that was fun.

I remember pong. Damn, I miss those days.

I remember loading data on punch cards. THOSE WERE THE DAYS!
