Still some companies use the term or something similar to it, just to boost their sales. In Holland we have a company that brings out MyPocketPC's :roll:

Which basicly is a computer the size of discman but without a battery or display.

Pocket PC here in the states is only the Microsoft operating system used for windows hand helds. Other pda's go by their own brand such as Psion, or a Nokia using the Symbian wonderful OS :) and the palm for their own brands.
what usually happens is that a pda is invented and then from there as others improve upon it or others make their own, they tend to take up the name from the original and it is no longer unique to that one manufacturer but becomes a generic name for all pda's. So it depends where you are at in the states and other parts of the world. Just another view:)

Actually, Microsoft sells their Handheld PCs (and previously Palm-Sized PCs) here in the USA which run on Windows CE, but not the PocketPC OS, as stated in many other replies here.
