According to , John Carmack is planning to release a Pocket PC version of DooM III around a month later than the Windows release. According to the site, the port will have the following features:

-Full support of the DooM III engine, using software rendering
-Skinnable virtual keyboard
-16-bit stereo sound output, with 3D sound emulation
-Portrait (240x180) and landscape (320x240) mode
-Mouselook and hardware button movement (button mapping customizable)
-Only supports SH-3 Pocket PC's with palette displays

The site also offered an alpha version for download, so I tried it on my Jornada 525. Since the program and data files add upp to about 400 or so megabytes, I had to use a 512 meg CF card. All in all, I'm pleased with this version; I consistently got 25 fps while playing. Here is a screenshot that I took:

I'm excited about this... too bad the demo only features 1 map and so far has no weapons (remember, this is a very early alpha release). I can't wait for it to come out; God knows when it will.

Hahaha.. what a horrible hoax.. good lord he didn't even try to make it real.

Do tell me who's coding the software renderer. Per pixel lighting and shaders would completly kill all PCs ever.

Funny how the screenshot is nothing new.

Good bye, fuck off, you can't make decent hoaxes at all.

For the love of god, lock this thread, I can see the stupidity already.

Keeping up with the high standards of the original screenshot, I took a photo of my device.

omg, just look at the screenshot it's soooo fake. I'm betting that this guy took a screenshot from the leaked PalmOS version of Doom3, resized it a bit and added on-screen controls to make it look like it actually ran on a PocketPC!

BS: You just wasted your 1000th post on that :P

Slightly off-topic, Serious Sam for PalmOS is the worst... "thing" ever to be created.
