How many of you think that IF Palm evers starts using Arm Processors they will be better then Pocket PC's? I know that they have tons of software, but this will all become incompatible on a new processor....wouldn't it??

They'll never be as popular on the developer side, because all you have to do to port a program to the PocketPC is recompile it.
And yes, none of the current software would work on an ARM Palm, that's why a LOT of Palm people are in an uproar... and the new OS is going to make things even weirder for them.
Palm will always have a niche market, because, lets face it, their OS is very stable and has a tiny footprint. The new OS will be multi-tasking (right?), too.

But I think PocketPC is a better OS and device, and when Dell gets into the business and drops the price to $300, Palm won't be able to compete so well anymore.

Yah I have to agree! I think that Pocket PC will stay on top. Is the Dell Pocket PC gonna sell for $300!?!?!

The PPC is not currently on top, by far. And yes, $199-$399. iPaq 2200 is going to be $399-$499 also. Everything is dropping in price because Dell can do things real cheap and they have to compete.

When will this Dell PPC be out? It sounds Very nice, other then the XScale Processor. If for some reason CompUSA decides not to send me a new Maestro, then I will need to buy something new!

November, with mass production by December.

At this point, wait until the holiday season even if you don't buy a Dell because the price of ALL PocketPC's will drop simulatenously upon Dell's release, simply because they can compete so much better and provide a lower price mark to force everyone else into lowering their price to stay in the game.

      I returned my Maestro, and they don't have any more at Staples so I got my money back.   I was wondering, maybe i should get something better, or get another Maestro, tiger direct has a Jordana 567 with a CF modem, 128 mb CF card, flip lid, etc. all priced at $350, is that a good deal? I'll probably wait for the Dell though. I'm open to suggections though.

I don't know, I would think that this PPC would sell in the $399-500 range. Espesially with a replaceble battery and Xscale!

Dude, you're not thinking. Dell sells their stuff with a return time of 28 days! That means they get the money from the customer 28 days before they need to pay for the parts. That means they get a full MONTH of interest rate on thousands of dollars for each computer purchase.

Dell is going to sell their PocketPC really cheap, like $399 MAXIMUM... trust me.
