E-740 recall

Toshiba is now recalling their E-740 units whose serial numbers fall between 72014641L and 92041620L. There is a possibility for the units to lose their data when the main battery dies, or if it is disconnected. For more info check the link below(pdf file).

Isn't that supposed to happen, how RAM works? I don't quite see the problem.

Yeah, I'm also wondering whats the problem. I guess the E740 was designed with some kind of builtin backup battery?

When I saw the news on the main page, I though they fixed the speed issue =)

The backup battery should keep the data stored for 12-24 hours or so.
