Hey if I get a new ipaq, is it possible to slip my CF sleeve on it and simply do a restore to get all my programs and stuff from my other pocket pc to the new one? or do I have to reinstall everything?

It should work perfectly.

As long as it is the same edition i.e. no 3600->3700->3800. It wouldn't be safe because somethings DO change.

Oh! wait some games use a device ID which changes with EVERY device so they may malfunction unless you reinstall.

Sure 3600 -> -> 3900 works. It's just the contacts and calender information and programs that are backed up. Now x -> 3800 might not work, or 3800 -> x might not work, because the 3800 has some display problems. But All calender and contacts will transfer and all data will transfer, programs are data. It's not like it backs up the OS and everything.

not for programs... some progams depend on the actual hardware version... GAMES for example

Note I'm talking about data on a CF card, I rebuilt the device from scratch too.
