Okay, here's what I want to see in the future from all of you manufacturers that roam these forums. Take this to thought.
First of all, I want my car to have bluetooth (or another similar wireless form, but for the purpose of this writing, I will use bluetooth to represent this). When I step into my car I want to throw my phone under my seat and have it automatically sync up with my car. I also want my TabletPC to connect up with the bluetooth hub built into my car. The TabletPC will be able to connect to my cell phone for email checking and all, all of this is quite possible now, but not so wide as I'd like. But finally, I want my TabletPC to automatically launch a "travel" program once it detects a connection with my car. This program will receive information from my car's built in GPS module, showing a full screen map with my car's current location. I'd also like my Tablet PC to read my car's speedometer, odometer, heat, oil, and other critical aspects. If my car goes above a certain speed than my tabletpc/pocketpc will beep at me to tell me to slow down. At 6000 miles my tablet/pocketpc will remind me that i need a tuneup. When my gas tank gets below 1/4 it will beep at me to fill my tank, and AUTOMATICALLY locate the nearest gas station (still on the same or close to the same route I'm on) and guide me to it with visual and voice commands. I want average speed, average economy, distant travelled since wireless connection, etc. I want to see this, and I want to see it within 5 years. I'm POSITIVE that I could somehow manage to do all of this myself, but I want it integrated, I want it cheap, I want it mainstream. I want to hop in my friend's Civic and tell them that they need to go in for a tuneup. I then want to jump in my BMW Z4 and take off, right where I was. I want to ride in the back seat of my parents Saab on the way to dinner saturday night and tell them if their taillight is out via my Tablet/PocketPC.
This is the goal that you should all strive for. This is where PC's need to go, a practical and totally automated field. THIS is how computers should be tomorrow and we need work towards that today.
