CF cards are not water proof. Repeat, CF cards are not water proof.

Yes, the CF card is prolly bad. My dad got me a 64MB one over in China (No name brand, warranty, etc..) and it did the same thing to me once I tried putting a file on there. You *may* be able to use it in a digital camera, but PPC's will hate em.

That's right. That factory in China that was making CF cards in November is making AK-47's this month. I think they will tool up to make insulin after the chinese new year.

Get a reader and do what Dan said.
I have the SanDisk dual reader (CF / SD) since I do a lot with the cards (camera, ppc, frame, etc.) and I've noticed that periodially the CFs with crap their pants. Though, since I got the newest reader it has been ok in it (the PCMCIA adapter is another story).
Anyway, my experience has lead me to the conclusion that while slower, SD/MMC tends to be more stable over the long run and CF tends to deteriorate but is faster.
I've been using my SD card as a mobile drive lately (for my documents and passwords and Money file et al.) ENCRYPTED AND ALL.
Anyone else have any comments on the state of solid-state?
