I wouldn't think a transfer of 30KB more would make a difference for usual people, but it does for people putting a big movie in it...

Ya, I play videos and MP3s off of my Sandisk 256MB SD card all the time. No frames have ever dropped. And the CF bus on PPCs can only go so fast to begin with.
