Pocket Wolf3D 0.1 Released for ARM

Get it while it's hot:
http://wolf.pocketmatrix.com

This initial release is the Spear of Destiny DEMO. All necessary data files are included in the installer. You can install to storage card or main memory. Pocket Wolf SOD requires a little over 1 MB.

This first release only supports StrongARM Pocket PCs! I am working on debugging the MIPS version, and hope to have it available in the relatively near future.

Some deficiencies:
No Sound.
No Strafe.
No Onscreen Controls (so no weapon selection).
Landscape rotated right only.
No Save / Load games.

These items will be addressed with future versions.

The source is not yet available.

Enjoy!

Dan East

Oh, and please excuse the fact that the website looks suspiciously like the PQ site and has no fancy custom graphics. :)

Dan East

Haha! I beat Mike Wagstaff to the punch, I actually added gaming news before him. I would have thought that he was sitting there hitting refresh for the last few days.

Pocket Wolf uses the same general GAPI routines as Pocket Quake. Neither will run on the iPaq 38xx devices yet. :(

Dan East

Damn its released and now Im at my parents house with no way to transfer to my PPC, so I gotta wait till moday or go buy a cable at circut city. Dan will it take longer to make the exe for the ful wolf ect... or do you already have those converted from ASM as well?

The sound routines should have very little effect on performance.

The xWolf port I based Pocket Wolf off of already had most of the ASM converted. I don't know how much additional work would be required to support the original Wolfenstein data files. I can get the actual maps to play fine. It is just that the images in the menus, splash screens and status bars are wrong. The indices are somehow off, so it uses the wrong images for the drawings. All that stuff was hardcoded, so I need to get ahold of the original source to make sure those indices are correct.

Dan East
