It amazes me the number of people that buy a low-end device because its cheap and then they try everything under the sun to bring it up to par. You bought a cheap device, enjoy it.

Otherwise go buy PPC2002 that will suit your needs - but this time do a little research.

If you put something into the void, is it still a void?

Hey man, I'm 17, Warren just turned 16, Village_Ideot is what, 14?
You should have learned by that age to save your money and get good stuff later.

But I do take your side, you asked an innocent question, but I'm sorry the answer is no. I have no knowledge of a method to increase the speed of the Jornada 525. There is no software you an install, harddrive to defrag, or BIOS to tweak. The day you bought it is pretty much the best that thing will ever be. Sorry :(

Moose, I agree totally. I'm only 13, and I have an iPaq 3835. How did I get it? I saved up for a LONG time and bought it, all $600, with my own hard-earned cash. My friend also has A PocketPC, but he only has a Jornada 525. Did he save up for it? No! He just freeloaded and got one that his dad got at an HP conference and now is complaining that it's not good enough for him. If it's not worth saving up for, then is it worth buying?

I'd say the average age of regular posters is 18. But we're just regular posters because we like to banter and make fun of each other. The people that make the most important posts like Dan, perhaps randall also (although her partakes in the jibberish) would be around 25. It really depends on the forum. Developers forum is older, anything discussion is MUCH younger.

Actually, the EM500 is very good for games. You can buy them for cheap, but they are high quality devices, with the best looking display and the best buttons around. Sure, 16 MB stinks, but you of course have an SD slot. You can also overclock them to 180 MHz no problem. 200 MHz is possible as well. Sure, this is not quite as good as a StrongARM (because of crappy compiler support), but it is one of the best gaming devices out there (subject to opinion and argument, of course). MIPS games are still coming out and plenty of emulators are available. My friend bought one for like ~$167 new off of ebay. He broke the touchscreen, but he paid me $20~$30 (to my dad) to order a replacement screen. Meanwhile, I overclocked it for him. Now, it's faster than ever. The em500 is pretty slim and cool-looking as well.

If you want a quality gaming device but aren't worried about having bleeding-edge high-end stuff, the em500 is a pretty good choice.
Die, Palm, Die. If that offended you, then get rid of your Palm OS device.

I wish I had done research before I bought my Jornada 525. But i dont regret it. Hell, I got a new color ppc and a 128mb flash card for $100 bucks. Thats gotta be one of the greatest deals on Earth :)
It also does everything i need, plays MP3's flawlessly, plays games, and movies. The only thing I regret about buying it is the 256 color display. I have to convert my Simpsons and Futurama episodes from dixv and there is a severe lack of games I would most definitely buy for it.
Ive saved up 500 bucks after a few months. Once my Jornada breaks, thats when I upgrade. Ive used my ppc for a couple months and its been an indispensable tool. (No matter how slow it is)
